“Supreme Student Government”―an organization wherein students are chosen to be leaders of a school. They will also serve as models. They’ll be implementing propagandas regarding on the improvement of their own school. But, are students interested in this kind of organization? Do they involve in it? If they do, is there a need for them to pay of what we called “membership fee” in order to become a member of the said organization?
Every student knows what is the role of a SSG member; a leader. Members have many responsibilities for the school. They organize programs, they tell special announcements, they collect for some solicitations. Students, whether transferees or not would get interested of it. But is it okay for them to pay something just to be a part of the organization? How about those students, especially in public schools, who are less fortunate, paying many fees but wants to be a member? Will they also pay? Can they not be given a chance to not do so?
The journalist say, the implementation of the membership fee for SSG is not needed. They should consider the state of living of some students. If the cause of it is to have money for the organization, why don’t they just make ways in order to earn something?
Truly, there’s no need for a fee. What if those students who can afford to pay are not capable of being a leader? Rather than those students who can’t afford but have skills to become a leader.
Now, think of it. Think of the students who are less fortunate but want to be a member of it. Let’s consider the side of the truth―not all students are fortunate enough or having an average quality of life. Well, you decide. “SSG implementation of membership fee collection”―is it really favorable or not?

“Campus Journalism as a Catalyst for Change: Achieving the MDGs by 2015”―the theme in which the Division Schools Press Conference particularly focuses in 2010. Do people know what is meant by journalism? Are all journalists exposed to the real meaning of it?
As this year’s DSPC focuses on the MDGs by 2015, we should take responsibility on what we called change to achieve the development goals and think ways to surpass problems especially poverty.
An estimated 40 million people in our nation don’t have enough to eat. The disparity between rich and poor is increasing nowadays. Poverty is really a major problem which is difficult to resolve due to a lot of circumstances. Every year, families that characterized themselves as poor greatly increase in number. Why does poverty keep on growing? Where are the government officials who are needed to reduce it? To make ways on slowly eradicating it?
In fact, it remains the central development issue in the Philippines and the country has not been able to sustain the economic growth required to reduce poverty to acceptable levels. Journalists now are needed for the great participation in the campaign against hardships to commit the MGDs by 2015. Like what DepEd Secretary Jesli Lapus said, “There is power in the pen and we highlight this in our school journalists and their publications.” Hence, journalists can also do something. Why don’t we use pens and write to heed the government’s call to fight extreme poverty in our country? Express and let the government know about the sufferings of our fellow Filipinos. We should take part on being a catalyst for change in order to lower poverty and commit the MDGs by 2015.

I’m learning to love Chemistry
And I hope it’ll always be
I love the teacher the she teaches
I hope it’ll be forever
I want to learn more about this
And make some discoveries’ list
Solve some challenging problems
And own someday beautiful gold and gems
I want to be a chemist
And hold some inventions in my fist
Let the world benefit
These wished creations a li’l bit
I think these will be dreams
Forever it seems
But I always wish all will come true
Without any doubt to make me blue.

In our class, Special Science Class, students desired to have a field trip. that desired trip came true first because of our Research Teacher and of course also because of our supports and efforts.
At some time, Mr. James T. Padilla, our Research Teacher, shared to us his plan to have our field trip or shall we say an educational trip to Bacolod City, Negros Occidental. When the class heard that said plan, everybody seemed so enthusiastic and thrillingly talked about it.
After how many days, the decision was set up. We’re having a trip to Bacolod City in connection with our subject Research. Mr. James T. Padilla and Mrs. Florebelle Tangeres sent their communication to the assent destination of our trip. After a short time, agreed on when we will have our field trip.
March 8, 2010—the fixed date of our trip. A day before this, surely, the class motivated and agitated and had prepared their things to bring.
The assembly time was 5:00 in the morning, March 8, in front of the City Hall.
The time came. Some of us went early in the assembly place. The whole group dressed with their good-looking attires. Everybody was so provoked but yet one of our classmates did not arrive at time so we just left from the City Hall even without her. :’(
During the trip, everybody was so eager to be in Bacolod. Aside from, that, there’s still a feeling of being nervous within my classmates for the reason that they’re afraid to vomit and not be able to enjoy the trip. But the enthusiasm must go on within us.
When we passed by Salvador, Benedicto each of us was gratified of the astonishing place, tall cliffs we passed by and saw nice hills—looked-like Chocolate Hills in Bohol. We stopped for a while in a park where we’re going to be eating our breakfast. Most of us were so amazed of the place. It was so silent that we can hear and feel the nature. A few miles from the park was a waterfall—so beautiful, so tall, trully from nature.
After this, we continued our trip. When we arrived in Central Philippines Adventist College, we walked around the campus and took some pictures of it. When we’re done, we went to Saint La Salle University. We were so excited because one of the staffs of the said school is going to tour us around the campus.
After that, we went to Bacolod City Eco Park to eat our lunch. Then also we went to SM City Bacolod and went shopping, also window shopping. :’)
Our final destination was in Mambukal Resort in Murcia. This time, all of us felt so much excitement. There, we saw many bats flying even if it is daylight. We also saw sulfur spring, hot spring, a beautiful butterfly garden, a swimming pool and a huge, gorgeous, attractive lagoon. We were really amazed of the sulfur spring even if the smell’s not good and some of us was it’s first time to see that king of spring.
After this, we travelled home. Everybody wanted to stay longer but we have to go home earlier so that we will not arrive in Guihulngan at midnight. Despite of this feeling, everybody enjoyed the unforgettable experience of ours. We wished it would happen again.

Before the sun sets, before we travel back to the Golden Valley Hotel, before we travel back to our homes, I looked the smiles of my new friends, the participants and speakers, their faces, faces full of happiness and accomplishments, saying goodbye to them as the time nearly comes for us to be travelling home as our seminar ends—Smart Schools Program. I know that I’ll miss this experience not just me—but also those who participated the seminar. All the learnings I’ve learned, surely will not be forgotten—will not fade away.

The rules in news writing, how to write a feature story, writing for internet, photography, video blogging or shall we say—Vlogging, these were just some of what I’ve learned during the seminar. All I wanna do is to spread my knowledges about these, enhance it and use them for me to become a good writer, blogger or even a photographer. If it’s not because of our seminar, the sponsor—Smart Schools Program and speakers—Prof. Aurora Lomibao, Mr. Cristopher C. Lorenzo, Ms. Kring Elenzano, Ms. Maricris Espinosa and all the staffs of Smart Schools Program, I will not be able to gain these learnings. A big thanks to them.

The time has come for us to leave the place where we stayed for five days—The Golden Valley Hotel. It was nine o’clock in the evening last Dec. 4 2009, we rode on a taxi to Cebu South Bus Terminal. When we arrived, we bought our ticket for the bus. We waited for how many minutes for the bus to arrive in the terminal. The bus has arrived. We rode on it going to Tangil where we will be sailing in a ferry boat to Guihulngan.

Finally, we reached Tangil and it was already past 11 o’clock in the evening. The ferry boat will be departing on 1:30 in the morning. Yes! It’s time already. The ferry boat is leaving and I’m so excited to be home. I slept while traveling for the reason that I’m afraid to vomit. It was so cold during the journey. Lastly, we reached our destination—Guihulngan, Negros Oriental. Aaah! At last, I’m home, back where I came from.
Now that I’m back—here in our place, left Cebu City but has not forgotten the happenings, learnings and faces of the speakers and participants. I would always be thankful to our Almighty God for He has given me the opportunity to attend the seminar and to Smart Schools Program. I hope that this will happen again. God Bless!

This week, I learned much about many things from our seminar. On the first day which was last Monday, I learned the rules in writing a news story and was able to undergo the exercises given by our speaker, Prof. Aurora Lomibao. I also knew about the shortest forms of some dictated words and phrases by our speaker.
On the second day, I learned more about feature writing, the different types of it, about photography and was able to participate in the photography exercises .
This morning, I learned something new about using the internet for research, the searching techniques, how to evaluate websites and how to cite online resources from our another speaker, Mr. Christopher C. Lorenzo. This afternoon, we are taught how to make a blog. Now I have it: http://buenssc.wordpress.com/
We also had a guest speaker and she is Ms. Kring Elenzano which is said to be a director and a video blogger. How wonderful! With her age at 24, she’s a director. How I wish to be like her. Now that I’ve met her and knew how she become what is she right now, I was more encouraged to do whatever it takes just to be a succesful one. Just like her, from dreaming and aspiring to a dream came true. I’m also thankful to Smart Schools Program because of them, I’m here, attending the seminar, learned many things and met different professional people like our speakers. Thanks God.
